Privacy Policy
OpenCampux is built on the foundation of trust. We don't want your data; we want your honest feedback. Here is how we ensure your identity remains protected.
Anonymity
No real names or IDs are stored in our feedback database.
Encryption
All student tokens are transformed into one-way SHA-256 hashes.
Trust
We are an independent platform built for university transparency.
Information We Store
Most platforms track you. We do the opposite. When you log in with your university credentials, our system performs a **one-way cryptographic hash** of your identity.
- No Real IDs: Your student number is never saved to our database.
- Local Preferences: We store your chosen university, avatar color, and anonymous codename in your browser's local storage so they stay on your device and are never tracked by our servers.
- Departmental Choice: We only save your chosen department in our database to personalize your dashboard.
- Feedback Data: We store the scores and comments you submit, linked only to your anonymous hash.
- Marketplace Listings: If you list an item, we store the product details and contact info you provide. This is linked to your anonymous hash for security.
- Event Tickets: We store ticketing metadata (QR codes, event types) to facilitate your entry to campus events.
Anti-Spam & Security
To protect the integrity of lecturer ratings and marketplace trades, we use anonymous device identifiers (UUIDs). These allow us to prevent automated spam and double-voting without ever knowing who the user is. This data is purely for platform security and is never used for advertising or external tracking.
How We Use Data
Your reviews are aggregated into lecturer and course statistics. These are public and intended to help fellow students make informed academic choices. We do not sell, trade, or share tracking data with third parties.
A Note on Anonymity
While our system is architected to be anonymous, please remember that the content of your comments is your responsibility. Avoid including personal stories or specific details that might inadvertently reveal your identity to those who know you.
